Solarity-Memorial-Foundation-Donation-2024

On December 11, 2024, Solarity Credit Union presented a $160,000 donation to Memorial Foundation, marking a pivotal moment for the organization’s CHAMPs Campaign. The initiative is focused on expanding Children’s Village and modernizing the Family Birth Center at MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital.

Solarity’s contribution was made possible in part by a 3-to-1 matching grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines. These funds will support transformative enhancements, including expanded pediatric specialty care, behavioral health treatment rooms and the addition of maternal-fetal medicine services at Children’s Village. Additionally, the Family Birth Center will receive long-overdue upgrades to its birthing facilities.

“Children’s Village is a place where children and families thrive,” said Laura Crooks, CEO of Children’s Village. “Expanding access to pediatric care is transformative for our community. This is made possible because we have incredible partners like Solarity Credit Union standing alongside us.”

Children’s Village serves more than 11,500 children, with hundreds still on the waitlist for services. The CHAMPs Campaign will add critical capacity, reducing wait times and ensuring families receive the support they need when they need it most.

Mina Worthington, President and CEO of Solarity, shared her enthusiasm for the campaign stating, “We are proud to support families through the CHAMPs Campaign and help expand access to essential healthcare services in our valley. Solarity is committed to making our community a better place to live, and a vital part of that is ensuring access to timely, high-quality medical care.”

Erin Black, CEO of Memorial Foundation, called the donation a “game- changer” for the region. “These enhancements will fundamentally change the way Children’s Village and the Family Birth Center care for children and families. We are so grateful for Solarity’s partnership and dedication to improving local healthcare.”

Solarity’s commitment to making an impact goes beyond financial contributions. For more information on how Solarity is supporting growth and well-being across the region, read Solarity’s full 2023 Community Impact report here
